What are the informal philosophies implicit in travel?

Getting acquainted with another culture, as in their people, architecture, and food, is fine, but most travelers are shallow NPCs and only do this in the most superficial ways.

Honestly global lockdowns would be for the better, as it would select for wealthy people who could offset any of their insufferable habits with positive economic influx, as well as for well cultured people whose cross culturization would benefit relations between both lands. The people in between are mostly boring plebs who add nothing, resembling contagions themselves.

Copypasta FAQ:
>When will Japan open to tourists again?
We don't fucking know. Tokyo Olympics are July 23rd! No tourists! No spectators!
>Ok, but seriously, when will Japan be open to tourists? Give me an estimate.
WE DON'T KNOW. Prime minister Suga doesn't know. The CDC doesn't know. It's the blind leading the blind.
>Is Hiroshima+Miyajima worth it as a day trip from Osaka/Kyoto?
Not really, it's too rushed and you should probably just stay the night there.
>How do I travel by public transportation?

SK, HK, or ROC

I'll have to choose one if Japan doesnt get their shit together by the end of this year. I've been to Hong Kong three times. Never Taiwan or South Korea though.
Which one will give me the most fun over two months? I dont care about the women, just want an interesting, multifaceted city with bars, night markets, good music, arcades and trains. Hot springs and snow are a benefit since it'll be Christmas/New Years so I'm leaning towards Korea.

With Canada opening up to American travelers again, travel to Montreal is back on the table. How is the city these days? Will it be worth a visit in the next month or so?

I've worked in China for about 10 years now and am looking to work in Taiwan. I'm 37 years old and have a misdemeanor marijuana arrest (no conviction from deal with lawyer, about 2 grams on me at the time) from when I was 18 years old. The record shows up on fbi criminal background checks. Does this exclude me from working the country completely? Other than that record from almost 20 years ago I'm squeeky clean. Thanks to Amy advice you can give.
